DNA Learning Center Nigeria aim to Strengthen Collaboration with IMT for Science Education Advancement

In a strategic move to deepen partnerships and advance hands-on science education, the DNA Learning Center Nigeria, Godfrey Okoye University, on Wednesday, 24th September, visited the administrative council of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, to promote collaborative opportunities in science development and training. The visit underscores the center’s commitment to fostering practical learning experiences for undergraduates and scientists across Nigeria.

Led by Deputy Director Mr. Michael Okoro, the DNA Learning Center team engaged with IMT’s administrative leadership to showcase their innovative programs, cutting-edge courses, and the transformative opportunities a partnership with the center could offer. The delegation was warmly received by IMT’s Rector, Professor Chidi Ogbodo, alongside other senior members of the institution’s administrative council.

The visit aimed to strengthen ties between the DNA Learning Center Nigeria and IMT, two institutions dedicated to advancing education and research. During the meeting, Mr. Okoro highlighted the center’s mission to provide practical, industry-relevant training in STEM fields, particularly through its soon-to-be-launched Center for DNA Forensics and Criminal Investigation (CEDFOCI).

Set to become fully operational in October 2025, CEDFOCI will offer state-of-the-art facilities for forensic science, paternity testing, and an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics hub, positioning it as a game-changer in Nigeria’s scientific landscape.

Okoro emphasized the potential benefits of collaboration, noting that partnering with the DNA Learning Center would provide IMT students and faculty with access to advanced resources, hands-on training, and interdisciplinary research opportunities.

“Our goal is to equip undergraduates and scientists with the practical skills needed to excel in STEM,” he said. “By collaborating with institutions like IMT, we can create a robust ecosystem for science education and innovation in Nigeria.”

The discussions focused on potential joint programs, including workshops, training sessions, and research initiatives that leverage the strengths of both institutions.

The visit to IMT is part of the DNA Learning Center Nigeria’s broader strategy to foster partnerships across academic institutions, research bodies, and industry stakeholders. By aiming to collaborating with institutions like IMT, the center targets creating a network of excellence in STEM education, ensuring that students and scientists have access to cutting-edge facilities and training that prepare them for global challenges.

Mr. Okoro reiterated the center’s dedication to producing the next generation of STEM leaders in Nigeria and across Africa. “Our collaboration will be is a step toward building a sustainable future for science education,” he said. “Together, we can empower students and researchers to drive innovation and make meaningful contributions to society.”

The visit marks a significant milestone in the DNA Learning Center Nigeria’s efforts to expand its impact through strategic partnerships.
